A Message from the Editor of
Recollections:

The amazing thing about Betar in Australia, from the olden
days, at
least, is how many of us have remained friends and how many of us are
still in contact with each other on a regular basis. Even those that we
only see occasionally are welcomed as if part of our extended family.
There was something special about those old days. Strangely, it has less
to do with ideology than with friendships. In our group, at least, the
political preferences cover as wide a range as in the general community,
although it would be true to say that we all hold Israel dear to our
hearts. Despite these differing views of the world we still enjoy each
other’s company and ignore the politics.
Some of us have tried to recall the old days before but it has taken the
devotion and expertise of Harry Stuart and John Goldlust to develop
something concrete. The technology is now available to make efforts to
record memories of those days practical.
I have joined in belatedly because they were great times. I really
enjoyed recalling some of those times in a series of short anecdotes
which I hope you have read and enjoyed.
We want you to contribute your recollections.
There is no prescribed format. You can do it any way that you like. It
can be short, or it can be long. It can be amusing or it can be serious.
It can be accurate, or it can be embellished with author’s licence. You
can, if you prefer, record it on tape. If you wish, we can arrange for
you to be interviewed.
We now have the means to store and display all our memories. Maybe we
can evoke some of the fond feelings we had then.
If you want to
speak to any of us for suggestions or advice,
or contribute to this web page
and the Personal History CD-ROMs,

I invite you to take a look at the following recollections that I have
compiled!
